The North Carolina Merchandise Warehouse Association (NCMWA) was formed in 1963 by a group of public warehouse operators who joined together to positively influence legislation affecting the public warehouse industry. The result of their efforts was the Freeport Act, which exempted goods stored in public warehouses from inventory taxes.

Today the NCMWA consists of over thirty public warehouses in North Carolina who are continuing to affect positive change in our industry.
